CIOSA and Udhavum Ullangal confers Dr. K.S. Sanjivi Awards on Doctors and Institutions who have contributed to the society

The Confederation of Indian Organizations for Service & Advocacy (CIOSA) and Udhavum Ullangal Public Charitable Trust honoured eight doctors and two medical institutions, for their matchless dedication to the society. They were conferred with the
prestigious Dr. K. S. Sanjivi Award which recognizes them for their untiring efforts in serving the underprivileged.

 

Dr. K. S. Sanjivi Award was instituted in 2004 to honour Dr. K.S. Sanjivi, who was the founder of Voluntary Health Services and a pioneer of Community Healthcare Services and a visionary in the concept of Community Health. The Award Ceremony was held at Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium, Mylapore, today.

 

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. K. Pandia Rajan, Founder Trustee, CIOSA, said, “This Award acknowledges Doctors who have selflessly given of themselves for the welfare of the society. This Award aims to encourage more doctors and institutions to reach out and help the underprivileged. In the coming days, we would like to ensure that every sick child, every infant and baby gets quality and timely medical care.”

 

Shri V.K. Subbu Raj, Principal Secretary to the Government of Tamil Nadu, Health and Family Welfare Department, Shri Dr. Surendran, Vice Chaiman, Sankara Nethralaya,
Shri J. Srinivasan, Mentor Director, TTK Group, honoured the awardees. Nominations for the Award were provided by a network of 32 NGOs under the CIOSA banner. A committee comprising of the doctors, trustees of CIOSA and Udhavum Ullangal and past Awardees selected the current year’s Awardees. The Award included a laser-etched trophy with the figure of Dr. K. S Sanjivi and a citation detailing the awardees' services.
