Ma Foi Foundation sets up Vocational Training Centre to increase employability skills of underprivileged women and youth

Ma Foi Management Consultants Limited, India’s Leading HR Services Provider with 106 offices in 16 countries has been stepping up its commitment to the society through its CSR activities under the Ma Foi Foundation.

 

'Joy Training Centre' is the most recent endeavour of the Ma Foi Foundation, to strengthen women groups and youth and enhance their employability and marketable skills. This Vocational Training Centre, on Solai Street, Ayanavaram, Chennai, aims to provide vocational, technical and professional skills including training in soft skills to SHG women and their families. Spread across 3500 sq feet, the Centre will be a boon for anybody who has completed their X or XII classes and is looking for employment.

 

Speaking on the inauguration of the Centre, K. Pandia Rajan, Managing Director, Ma Foi, said, “At Ma Foi, we believe that our society is our responsibility. Joy Centre has been an opportunity for us at Ma Foi to give back to society what it has given us. Employment has been our prime focus as it not only gives financial independence but also empowerment. Employment has a positive ripple effect on the lives of the poor. The Foundation networks with other corporate houses and NGOs to empower the poor. ”

 

The Centre was inaugurated on 11th April 2008 by Chief Guest Mrs. Akila Srinivasan, Managing Director, Shriram Life Insurance Co. Ltd., Mr. Saravanabhava, Executive Director, NIMI, D.G.E.&T (Guindy), Ministry of Labour & Employment, Govt. of India, S.Jayaraman, Regional Manager (Micro Insurance), LIC, Chennai, Ms. Chitra Iyer,
Sr. Manager (Programs) , Dr. Reddy's Foundation , Hyderabad and
Rev. Fr. Dr. Casmiraj S.J, Former Director XLRI, Jamshedpur were also present at the inauguration.

 

The Joy Centre will be run by the Sornammal Educational Trust, the education arm of
Ma Foi Foundation. The Trust will outsource Trainers and Technical Experts wherever necessary.

 

The first initiative has been sponsored by LABS - Livelihood Advancement Business School of Dr. Reddy’s Foundation and the First Source who have come together to offer training programs in BPO, ITES and Hospitality Management.

 

Apart from this, the Joy Centre will offer other training programs as well. Some of the soft skill training programs will include EDP - Entrepreneurship Development Promotion, Communication Skills and Leadership Development among others. Courses approved by Development Departments of the Government such as Mahalir Thittam, District Industrial Centres and THADCO will also be given.
